Open-Top Containers

Open-Top Containers are designed for cargo that is heavy or awkward. They have removable PVC tarpaulin that allows cargo to be loaded through the top while a swinging header bar fitted over the door end permits over height cargo to be loaded through the door opening. These containers have walls made of corrugated steel and the floor made of wood. The roof consists of removable bows and a removable tarpaulin. Open-Top containers have the door header that may be swivelled out.

How does it work?

The structure of such containers simplifies the process of packing and unpacking the container. In any case, it is very easy to pack and unpack the container from above or through the doors by crane or crab when the roof is open and the door header is swivelled out. The purpose of the roof bows of an open-top container is not solely to support the tarpaulin but they contribute to container stability.

The cargo may be secured to lashing rings that are installed in the upper and lower side rails and the corner posts. These lashing rings may take loads of up to 1,000 kg. Usual open-top container dimensions are 20′ and 40′ but other lengths such as 10ft and 30ft can be arranged on request.
